The tool that started it all

Dynabrade started its journey with a brilliant concept in 1969. The first Dynafile® Abrasive Belt Tool was created by Walter Welsch, Dynabrade's founder, to improve the chore of hand-filing metals and other hard surfaces while making it faster and easier than ever before. Dynabrade continues to prosper today as a result of this inventive, entrepreneurial attitude, constantly improving the product offering.

What are the differences between Dynafile, Dynafile II, Mini-Dynafile II and Dynafile III?

dynafile dynabrade

Dynafile® can be use in a wide range of applications and eliminates time-consuming manual sanding and filing. Thanks to its Contact Arm, this tool is ideal for working in areas as small as 3/8" (10 mm). This arm is also utilized for turbine blade grinding, blending and polishing.

dynafile II dynabrade

Dynafile® II has an ergonomic 7-degree offset and a 360° pivoting grinding head configuration to provide maximum efficiency and security while using it. Its optional Contact Arm helps the abrasive belt to slack and polish radiused regions efficiently.

mini-dynafile II dynabrade

Mini-Dynafile® II is a compact tool that can be used with 12" (305 mm) long belts. Its Contact Arm is perfect for grinding and finishing applications on edges or grooves, and within corners.

dynafile III dynabrade

Dynafile® III has increased power for quicker material removal. Optional Contact Arm and “V” shaped Contact Wheel are available. The arm is also reversible and may be used for platen sanding as well as slack polishing.

Did you know?

You can convert Dynabrade Dynafile II into a die Grinder!

How to convert it?

The process is the same across all models. The only difference will be the size wrench that you might need to perform the change. For example, with a low-profile Dynafile II (ref. 40352), you will require a 12 mm wrench. You will need a 9/64 allen key for all references in order to remove the belt housings.

To perform the conversion, you will need to:

  • First, remove the belt cover in order to take out the belt.
  • Release the pressure on the belt by depressing the tension arm.
  • Remove the belt.
  • Take your 9/64 allen key and loose the screw on the back of the belt housing.
  • Remove the belt housing from the tool Take your wrench and break the drive wheel free by hand or with a vice
  • Take your replacement collet, place it on the spindle, thread it down and tighten it with a wrench (Hand tightening is enough.)

Congratulations! Your Dynafile is now converted into a Die Grinder!
